GCEE 2017

The International Conference of Green Construction and Engineering Education (GCEE) 2017 is organized by Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, the State University of Malang with the support from our partner universities; Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, Petra Christian University Surabaya, and Malaysia-Indonesia Geo-polymer Symposium (MIGS). The agenda in this conference includes 4th MIGS Symposium and 2nd Asia Geo-polymer Symposium.

Construction industry is one of the industries that uses natural resources very widely. The industry that contributes to and responsible for many causes in environmental problems. Not only in term of the use of heavy equipment and the consumption of large number of fuel, but also in utilizing various natural resources.

In the other hand, construction industry also plays an essential role in improving the environment by continuing to improve the environmental performance of any country’s buildings and infrastructure. Throughout this conference, the construction industry is defined as the national sector engaged in preparing construction activities which not only includes activities prior to construction, such as design, siting of buildings, or specification of materials, nor does it include the operation of structures following construction, but also educating all parties involved on how important the issues of environment in this sector.

To address the above-mentioned issues, this conference had the following topics: green material, green construction method, green construction technology, sustainable techniques in building and infrastructure, sustainable building management, geo-polymer and its application, infrastructure maintenance and repairs, learning in higher engineering education, learning innovation in engineering education, graduates’ quality assurance, skills and competence in construction industry, linkage with professional association, and vocational education. Experts and researchers had been invited to share their experience, thoughts, and ideas; from Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, UK, and Indonesia. With the support from the Directorate of Research and Community Services, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, we believe that this conference had an immense impact to both national and global efforts in responding the green issues.
